Puerto Rico Payroll

Did you know that Puerto Rican establishments with at least 25 employees must pay employees $11.50 an hour when they work on Sundays?

Puerto Rico Compensation

Employers must pay employees covered by the federal Fair Labor Standards Act at least $7.25 an hour.

Employees not covered under the FLSA must be paid at least 70 percent of the minimum wage. Establishments permitted to open on Sundays must pay employees $11.50 an hour. Employers that own and exclusively operate a business, or businesses that have no more than 25 employees on the payroll are exempt from this requirement.

Puerto Rico Income Tax Withholding

Employers are required to withhold income tax from all fixed and determinable income paid to residents and nonresidents. Withholding of Puerto Rico income tax is not required when services are rendered outside of Puerto Rico by a resident whose employer is bound to withhold tax at the source.
