New CEO checks in at SurePayroll

Skokie-based online payroll service provider SurePayroll Inc. on Tuesday said it has named Debra A. Janssen its chief executive.

Ms. Janssen is the first full-time CEO for the privately held company in its three-year history. She succeeds Scott Wald, SurePayroll's founder who has been serving as part-time CEO.

Mr. Wald will continue his role as chairman and will provide strategic advice to the company.

Prior to joining SurePayroll, Ms. Janssen was president and CEO of Milwaukee-based Deluxe Electronic Payment Systems Inc., a provider of electronic funds transfer processing and software services. During her tenure there, she became CEO of eFunds Corp., a Deluxe spinoff that went public in 1999 and is now based in Arizona.

A company spokesman has said SurePayroll has "thousands" of customers and about 50 employees.
