Small Businesses Hiring More
Steven E.F. Brown A survey by Chicago-based payroll service SurePayroll Inc. of payroll records found that small businesses are hiring and making "regular" hires, rather than using temporary or contract hires. The average number of employees working at small businesses rose 2.28 percent in the first quarter of 2004, versus the fourth quarter of 2003.
