SurePayroll Offers Free HIRE Act Online Calculator

Small business owners can see the tax incentives they will gain if they hire qualifying HIRE Act employees.


GLENVIEW, IL – May 4, 2010 – SurePayroll, the online alternative, has recently launched a free, online HIRE Act calculator available to small business owners nationwide. Small business owners can simply enter the potential employee's start month and annual salary to see the tax savings.

For example, a small business planning to hire a qualifying employee with a $35,000 annual salary starting in May 2010 would save over $2800. Savings come from a combination of a tax credit worth up to $1,000 and a “tax holiday” where employers do not match qualifying employees' Social Security contributions.

A qualifying employee must meet several requirements, including:

  • The new-hire employee cannot have worked more than 40 hours during the 60-day period ending on the day that the person begins the new job.
  • The new-hire employee cannot serve as a replacement for a current employee “unless such other employee is separated from employment voluntarily or for cause.”
  • The new-hire employee must be hired after February 3, 2010 and before January 1, 2011.

Additionally, SurePayroll will make the proper Social Security contribution changes for its small business customers who have hired qualifying employees. SurePayroll will provide new customers with complete HIRE Act tax management for no additional charge.
