Regional Small Business Trends
On a regional basis, small business size is trending down in the Midwest, South and West year-to-date. The Northeast is still on track to be the regional success story for 2005. Hiring there is up 8.4% year-to-date. The Midwest has had the steepest regional decline year to date down 3.2%.
On the salary front, average small business paychecks are up in the South and the Midwest year to date. Salaries are still trending down in the Northeast and West.
