National Small Business Trends
Hiring increased in April, marking our fifth straight month of increased hiring in the small business economy.
The national SurePayroll Hiring Index, which measures the number of employees within small businesses, ended April at 10,600, up 42 points from where the index stood at the end of March.
Small business salaries are still on the rise, continuing the trend from last year. Small business paychecks were up in April, for the twentieth month in a row. The SurePayroll Pay Index clocked in at 1,038 at the end of April, a 4-point increase from March.
