Small business rose in December and ended the year up 4.3%.
The SurePayroll Hiring Index ended the month at 10,893, a 30-point increase (0.28%) from November. On a national basis, we've now experienced 13 straight months of increased hiring in the small business economy.
The SurePayroll Pay Index was 1,061 at the end of December, up four points from the end of November. This extends the increase streak to an impressive 28 straight months of rising salaries.
For the entire year, salaries were up 4.2% relative to the end of 2006.
