The national SurePayroll Hiring Index, which measures the number of employees within small businesses, ended January at 10,472, up 30 points from where the index stood at the end of December.
That's our second straight month of increased hiring in the small business economy.
Small business salaries are still on the rise, continuing the trend from last year. Small business paychecks were up in January, for the seventeenth month in a row. The SurePayroll Pay Index clocked in at 1,025 at the end of January, a 7-point increase from December.
