Small business hiring rose in May and ended the month up 0.3%.
The SurePayroll Hiring Index ended the month at 11,035, a 32-point increase from April.
On a national basis, this was our 18th straight month of increased hiring in the small business economy, and this is the highest the Hiring Index has been since its inception in January 2004.
The SurePayroll Pay Index was 1,058 at the end of May, down two points from April.
We have now had four consecutive months of declining small business salaries.
