Small businesses nationwide have entered their third consecutive month of flat or shrinking hiring numbers after four consecutive months of positive year-to-date growth. The average paycheck size, however, continues to grow. That brings us to a year-to-date increase in small business hiring of +3.9 percent and a year-to-date pay increase of +1.2 percent.
