Small business owners maintained a high level of optimism in the first month of the new year. According to our Small Business Optimism Survey, 65 percent of small business owners are feeling optimistic about the U.S. small business economy. This is a 2 percent increase over last month and a 12 percent increase from November and October. Month-over-month hiring remained down slightly (-0.2 percent) and wages were flat.
