How do I get started?

Getting started is easy. All you need to do is enroll for our SureChoice reseller program. There is no charge to you. You will need the following information to complete enrollment:

  1. Your basic company information
  2. Your contact information
  3. Your credit card or checking account information (to set up billing/reimbursement information)

As soon as you set up your account, you can start enrolling clients for your new online payroll service!

Here's how the program works:

Each time one of your clients processes payroll, we:

  • Debit their account for federal, state and local tax liabilities incurred
  • Deposit those liabilities to the appropriate taxing agency

When payroll returns are due, we file the required returns with the appropriate agency. If a penalty results from an untimely or inaccurate deposit or filing, we're 100% responsible.

  • We'll work with the IRS to resolve the issue
  • We'll pay the penalty and any resulting interest

This is not the case with most other online payroll reselling programs. They'll take responsibility for the accuracy of deposits and filings, but never for the timeliness. That's because there's extra work for you or your client to do each time a deposit or return is due, and your client is ultimately responsible for getting it done on time.

Processing Payroll

Who is responsible for getting my clients set up to process payroll?

Once you sign up as a SurePayroll reseller, you will be assigned one main point of contact at SurePayroll. Together, you will decide how the partnership will work. Your SurePayroll representative will be as involved as you want them to be when it comes to:

  • Selling the service to your clients
  • Enrolling clients
  • Walking clients through their first payroll or two
  • Providing customer care to your clients when needed

If you want to take on these tasks yourself, your SurePayroll representative will train you. This level of flexibility means you can have your SurePayroll representative do the work with some clients, while you do the work with others - it's up to you!

Who's responsible for online payroll data entry?

SurePayroll offers two options for entering your clients' payroll data each pay period:

  • You do it online
  • Your client does it online

Different clients will have different ideas about how involved they want you to be in their payroll processing. Some will expect you to be very hands-on while others will do most of the work on their own. Additionally, some accountants prefer to process payroll for their clients while others prefer to be hands-off.

How do my clients' employees get paid?

Employees can be paid by:

  1. Direct Deposit
  2. Paper checks printed on the client's pre-printed check stock by either you or the client. (Note: SurePayroll does not support MICR encoded check printing)
  3. SurePayroll will print and deliver checks to the client (For an extra fee)

Can I export payroll data into my accounting software?

Yes! If you have login access to your clients' accounts, data can be exported for use with MYOB™ and QuickBooks™ accounting software.

All SurePayroll reports can be exported into Excel, Rich Text and PDF formats.

Who is responsible for making payroll tax deposits and filings?

We are! The key to SurePayroll's reselling program is that we do the payroll tax deposits and filings for your clients, and guarantee the timeliness and accuracy. That means neither you nor your clients ever have to log back in just to make deposits via EFTPS or electronically file payroll returns.

Cost/Billing

How does billing work?

You won't find a more flexible billing system than we've created for our resellers.

Here's how it works:

  • SurePayroll discounts standard pricing to you. The pricing is based on:
    1. How often the company processes payroll and
    2. How many employees get paid
  • Based on how you set up billing, we collect our fees:
    • Directly from the client on a per pay period basis
    • From you on a monthly basis (Credit card charge, or debit from business account)

How do I make money?

If you want us to collect fees directly from your client, you will specify a "mark-up" percentage for each client's account. We'll add that to our discounted fees and collect our fees plus your markup each time the client processes payroll. On a monthly basis, we will reimburse you for the markup we collected the previous month.

If you chose to have us bill you, you are responsible for billing and collecting from the client. That means you can add any markup you like to your client's bill.

The preferred billing method is flexible at the client level. You can choose to have us bill you for some clients and collect directly from others. You can use different markup amounts for different clients. It's all up to you!
