Work related stress is something that millions of people are faced with. While this may not be the ideal situation, some stress in your work life is normal. Of course, the problem comes into play when too much stress begins to bog you down. At this point, you need to make a change for the better.
Below are three signs that work related stress is getting out of control. If you don’t do something to relieve this stress, you may end up regretting it later on:
1. Tension with coworkers. When you are stressed out you are more likely to get into arguments with others. Unfortunately, doing so at work will put you in an awkward position. Not only will the other party begin to resent you, but it could eventually lead to your termination. Is that a risk you are willing to take?
2. Spilling over at home. It is one thing to be stressed out at work. It is another thing entirely to let this feeling become so overwhelming that it ruins your personal life as well.
Has work related stress led to arguments with a partner? Has this kept you away from your children? The last thing you want is for your personal life to go downhill because of stress on the job.
No matter how stressed you may be at work, you need to leave this feeling at the office.
3. Leading to physical and mental illness. Too much stress can lead to a variety of health related concerns including but not limited to: headaches, ulcers, depression, and anxiety.
You will be amazed at how much better your mind and body feels once you do away with some of your day to day stress.
Completely eliminating stress from your work life is nearly impossible. Your goal should be to lighten up just a bit. If you notice stress leading to one or more of the signs detailed above, you are in the “danger zone.” It is time to make an immediate change.
